Rated 3 out of 5 by Steve from Well made but awkwardVery well made as expected by ME but loaded with a full Nalgene it carries awkwardly. Just too lopsided. I will use it because it attaches very securely and the bits n bobs pocket is awesome, but maybe not with a full liter of water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Thomas from FunctionalI bought this to use with my UA21. I have to admit it works, so far. But, I did have to remove my sternum straps, and this does not provide the level of stability that those did. It wouldn't be advisable to overload this with a big water bottle, AND a phone, AND anything larger than a Field Notes and pen. It is handy. Although, now that I look at myself in the mirror with my pack on, it looks kind of goofy. So it goes...I will be able to move this from pack to pack, which is a big plus, since many of the MR packs I own have no provisions for water bottles, aside from just tossing them inside the pack with all of the other stuff. This seems to be well made, good material, and up to Mystery Ranch standards. But I have many more miles to travel, to see if it holds up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TAMR26 from Great Modular Add OnGreat design on this lightweight, modular add-on for packs or as a standalone fanny or chest pack. The main zippered compartment will handle only a micro compact and one spare reload. The front and back gutter pockets will handle a phone or wallet. The bottle sleeve will handle up to a 32 ounce Nalgene/ Hydroflask (or similar brands) bottle and can be shock corded in. The pack is well made with quality lightweight, durable materials and craftsmanship. The pack can be easily attached between your shoulder straps on a backpack or carried solo as a fanny or chest pack. The only shortcomings are the narrow belt when worn solo, reducing stability with weight in the pockets and bottle sleeve, and slightly increasing the size of the attachment hardware to accommodate other brands of packs more easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AJM3 from Great accessory!I purchased this in July, 2023 after it had been out of stock for awhile. I used it recently on my trip to Waterton Lakes/Glacier National Park. The Wingman worked really well as a shoulder bag when I just needed to carry some small items and some water. I did use it with a 20 oz water bottle instead of a 32 oz Nalgene and the water bottle strap held it in the pocket very securely. I found the Wingman to be very well made just like all Mystery Ranch equipment. I look forward to using it with my pack!

Rated 3 out of 5 by BoyScout from First impressions averagePicked this up to add to my Scree32, pictures look larger than it really is and it mounts high on my straps putting close under my chin. Haven’t used it on a real hike yet, just walking around the house with a loaded pack so the real test is yet to come. Attachment points are good but you have to search the website to find the installation video. MR has good quality construction, not ready to recommend this till I’ve had a chance to use it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Daddy D from Great concept, odd designI really wanted to like this additional pocket. I bought it to mount on my baby carrier backpack and hunting pack. It is not a universal fit, so it does not really fit the baby carrier well. which doesn't make for a convenient carry for my water bottle. I don't use it for long walks but do use it for short walks as a beer holder. As for my hunting pack (which is a Mystery Ranch) if fits well but still is a little clunky. I'm still going to use it and hope to get use to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dudeinthawoodz from Awesome and well made modular pack!I have already tested many different chest packs from 5.11 tactical, Helikon-Tex, Nixon and Patagonia. Unfortunately, none of them fit me as well as this one from Mystery Ranch. I am very happy to have finally found the right bag for my needs. I wanted a chest pack that I could carry and use in many different ways. Whether as a pack on a rucksack or as an EDC bag in everyday life. Not too big, but not too small either. Just for everything I carry around with me. I especially love the option for a water bottle, so that you have it with you every day! Most people don't drink enough during the day. So you automatically always have something with you. I'm already thinking about getting a Grayl Ultrapress water bottle. It's just the right size and you can easily refill your drinking water on the trail near rivers or lakes. The quality of Mystery Ranch has convinced me since I bought the Wingman - so much so that I have already bought and ordered more products.I can recommend the Wingman to anyone who wants to carry equipment (vanquest PP slim EDC pouch), perhaps a small Secrid wallet, keys, cell phone, EDC flashlight, a micro BooBoo pouch or snacks within easy reach. For anything larger, I tend to use extra Molle pockets on my rucksack, or a fanny pack in which I then stow these items.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Chadwick from Great pocket, water bottle is an afterthought. This is a great product IF your priority is not the water bottle. The main pocket is a tremendous improvement over the older model. Three compartments make it really easy to stash wallet, phone, keys, and snacks w/o losing anything or having to shuffle around for it.The entire item is easier to clip into any pack set up and the updated approach lets you rock this as a standalone pocket.UNFORTUNATELY, the water bottle pocket is a problem. the opening fits a 32 oz Nalgene, but the retention method is a joke. That 3mm bungie cord is not enough to secure the bottle, especially since it'll flop around as is. It's a huge mistake considering the elastic opening on MR's own Bottle Pocket and SOCOM Water Bottle Pocket are perfect. I'm going to mod this with 3mm rivets around the opening to create a drawstring that will better secure the bottle.
